The Holly Lake Women’s Golf Association began as early as 1974 with Pat Patton being elected as President. Many women have actively participated in the HLWGA since that time and continue to enjoy the organization and the game of golf. In the beginning, many of the members were “weekenders” and many didn’t play golf until arriving in this fun-filled community. The Holly Lake Ranch Golf Club offers play at all levels – Fairway Tees, 9-Holes, 18-holes and our members have a wide range of handicaps.

HLWGA offers tournament play throughout the year, approximately one per month, with a variety of fun formats.  One of the most favorite tournaments is the Orphan Annie tournament where the second day allows you to throw out your first-day score on any hole with an improved second-day score. We also crown a President’s Cup Champion (net score) and a Club Champion (gross score) each year. The first Club Champion of record was Laverne Rapp in 1977 and the first President’s Cup Champion of record was Harriet Overstreet in 1987.

We have been and continue to be members of the East Texas Women’s Golf Association, the Bogies and Better Women’s Golf Association and the Texas Senior Women’s Golf Association. Membership in these organizations provide our players with another level of competition by playing with women from other Golf Clubs at other course locations and showcases the Holly Lake Ranch Golf Club when women from other clubs compete here.
